NICHE Solar – FAQ

What are the Renewable Energy Rebates?

Federal Rebate and STCs

Renewable energy certificates called Small Technology Certificates (STC) are generated by you when you install a Solar PV System. Each STC equates to 1 Megawatt hours (1000 kWh) of energy your system can produce in the period to 2030 up to a maximum of 15 years. NICHE Solar applies for these STCs on behalf and this provides you with a discount upfront, thereby reducing your initial NICHE Solar PV System investment cost.

State Rebate and Feed-In-Tarrif (FIT)

State governments pay you(the customer of the electricity power retailer) for any excess or unused solar power exported to the electricity grid.

The current FIT in Western Australia(WA) is: 3c to 10c/kWH.

NOTE: This tariff(WA) is on the proviso that your Solar Inverter has a 5kW max output.

Some other questions that may come to mind are:

  • What system size do I need?
  • What Government schemes/incentives are available to me & how much will it cost me?
  • When do I start saving money & what is my ROI?
  • Are other systems I’m offered, good ones and well priced?
  • Where are the Solar panels placed for maximum performance & aesthetic appeal?
  • What maintenance is required?
  • What are the warranties on the PV system?
  • How long does it take from order to installation?
  • How long does the installation of the system take?
  • What needs to be in place and what do I need to do for me to have my system installed?

NICHE Solar will help you navigate the minefield and myriad of products, ‘hard to resist’ offers, confusing marketing campaigns, potential pitfalls and more.
